Summer Ministries

Muskoka Bible Centre is the perfect place to bring your family for a summer vacation. It is the Christian conference centre in Ontario that offers it all. Inspiring and worshipful chapel sessions, weekly concerts of talented Christian musicians, and fun-filled camp programs for kids of all ages. For more information see any of the links below.

Our Bible teaching and family programming will look quite different this summer.  COVID-19 has thrown ‘normal’ out the window.  However, that is not going to stop us from focusing on our mission to help grow resilient, biblically rooted families!  We have created a program for Summer@MBC 2020 that will keep families engaged; onsite and offsite.  Here you will get a taste of the programming that will be available to you during your stay.  Sadly, due to the restrictions of COVID-19 for safe distancing and the extensive staffing requirements we will NOT have our regular Kids or Youth Min program this year. We will work hard to ensure a great experience for your family!

Summer@MBC in a Box Family, Kids & Youth programming this summer will be self-directed, facilitated by our ‘Summer@MBC in a Box’ program. Register your family at muskokabible.com/box by the Friday before your arrival and your box will be delivered Tuesday afternoon. The box will contain daily activities for your family that can include things like family devotions, memory verses, crafts, games and a few surprises. Some activities may be supported by online content to increase the quality of the experience. We will have a total of three different ‘boxes’ throughout the summer to ensure some variety for those who are here for a longer period of time - e.g. our trailer or cottage owners. Each family will need to register in advance to receive the boxes. Onsite guests will receive the box for free. Any offsite guests interested in getting the box may purchase them and pick them up or have them shipped.

KICK OFF FAMILY PICNIC- Tuesday, 5:00pm @ Carousel/Hub picnic area
We encourage our guests to join us for a family picnic. Remember to ‘safe distance’ (2 metres) from other families at all times! Order your Roast Chicken Dinner at the Front Office or Nibble Nook for pick up at the MBC Dining Room. You are also welcome to bring your own. Don’t forget your blankets or chairs.

OPENING WELCOME - - Tuesday, 7:00pm at the end of the picnic (live from the Carousel or live stream from muskokabible.com/chapel-live-stream)
Our Bible Teacher for the week will introduce his teaching. You will be introduced to our Family Ministry Team as we launch our week of programming and fill you in on all that you need to know for the week.

FIRST WORD - Wednesday through Friday morning at 7:30 am
Doug Morrison will host a prayer and devotion time in the Hub.  (Note - this year we are not able to provide coffee due to COVID-19 but please feel free to bring your own!).

FAMILY FUSION CHAPEL - Wednesday through Friday as well as Sunday morning we will gather together for a time of worship and teaching.  We will be limited in our singing but we can still enjoy some amazing music and visuals to engage us in worship and prepare us for teaching.  We are going to use the main chapel for guests ages 14 years and older while the Fellowship Centre will welcome families with pre-teens and younger children.  Each facility will have some unique worship elements with the Bible teaching being the same in both centres (live in the Chapel and broadcast live via video in the Fellowship Centre). People can also gather in a 'safe distancing' manner in the overflow area outside the chapel.

We are delighted to have the following Bible Teachers join us this summer:

  • Week 1 (June 30 - July 5, 2020) - Don Symons
  • Week 2 (July 7-12, 2020) - David Robinson
  • Week 3 (July 14-19, 2020) - Steve West
  • Week 4 (July 21-26, 2020) - Paul Martin
  • Week 5 (July 28 - August 2, 2020) - Paul Carter
  • Week 6 (August 4-9, 2020) - Rick Reed
  • Week 7 (August 11-16, 2020) - Jonathan Griffiths
  • Week 8 (August 18-23, 2020) - Dwayne Cline
  • Week 9 (August 25-30, 2020) - Steve Boctor
  • Week 10 (September 1-6, 2020) - Roger Freeman

WOMEN OF GRACE - Thursday, 11:15am in the Chapel outside overflow area
We encourage women to attend for a time of encouragement and safe distance fellowship! We can’t call it ‘Cafe’ this year as the logistics of providing ‘crumpets and tea’ is significantly difficult during COVID-19.

#MenNeedFriends - Friday, 11:15am in the Chapel outside overflow area
Men still do need friends - perhaps now more than ever. We will gather in the main Chapel for some man-size fun and also mutual encouragement to grow in our faith and leadership.

RESILIENT FAMILY EQUIPPING WORKSHOPS - Wednesday, 7:00pm in the chapel
This will be a one hour time led by John Friesen to reflect on some specific subject matters pertaining to growing resilient, biblically, rooted families. It will be a time to review some video teaching content and then a short Q&A/discussion time to share family stories and challenges. We will close with a time of prayer for each other's families. Parents and Grandparents are welcome. Please feel free to bring your teens. If you are unable to attend in person, please join us online through the live stream on our Website or App.

Q&A WITH THE TEACHER - Each Thursday at 7 pm we will gather in the chapel and online to ask questions of our Bible Teacher.  Questions can be submitted in advance.  We will provide more details at the start of each week.

YOUTH NIGHT - Friday nights starting at 8 pm!  Youth (RIOT & YAC - grade 6 and older) are encouraged to join us in the chapel for an amazing night of worship, prayer and teaching.

SUMMERSOUNDS@MBC - Saturday, 7:00pm @ the Carousel or Chapel (We will announce the location weekly, see Website or App for full lineup).
We encourage our guests to join us for a time of music enjoyment and fellowship.

DRIVE IN Movie Night - Thursday, 9:00pm at the Fellowship Centre Field
We are excited to continue our annual tradition of outdoor movie nights. This year will include a concession stand so bring your toonies so you can enjoy some great snacks during the movie! Movies will be announced weekly on the App and Facebook page as well as the Bookstore lobby and the Front office entry. Due to COVID-19, families must stay in the same car that they arrive in. Cash, Debit & Credit accepted.

Families will also have the use of recreation amenities, such as tennis, mini-golf and the beach.  However, some access may be restricted to ensure compliance with the local public health guidelines and other COVID-19 provincial directives.  Our desire is to create a great MBC experience while also ensuring the safety of each team member and guest that participates.

This will be a very different Summer@MBC experience but we trust it will continue to be an opportunity for your family to grow in relationship with God and with one another during what has been a difficult season for many families.
