God Provided

I am Charles, I have worked at MBC as the lead AVL (audio, visual, lighting) technician since September 2011. It is clear to me now that God orchestrated events of my life to bring me to MBC at just the right time. I had worked with PA gear and recording equipment since my early teens. As a musician I not only used PA and recording gear, but I also had a great desire to learn how to run it well. So, I became proficient at doing it, but I also felt a calling to use both my AVL skills and musical ability to serve the church. I did a lot of volunteering at different churches in both the worship band and the production team and gained a lot of experience in doing so, however I was a cabinet maker by trade. Due to health reasons, I was forced to leave my trade and was without a career for several years. 

Then I got a call from MBC asking if I was interested in being an AVL tech. Of course, I was very interested and was hired shortly thereafter. I inherited a department that had suffered some neglect and needed a lot of gear repair and equipment acquisitions, but God provided in miraculous ways. From the start people would walk up to me and say, “I see you need X piece of gear and I’d like to buy it for you”! One of the bigger challenges for the next several years was trying keep ahead of the new gear installations as new gear donations kept piling up behind me. Today MBC has one of the best sounding sound systems in the area. The lighting has been substantially upgraded, we now can stream with multiple cameras and video editing equipment and do so much more.

My story for the duration of my time at MBC is one of “God Provided”. It is clear to me that we were under His care and provision and that MBC was being sustained by His hand. God has also provided MBC with humble competent leadership, and I have never worked under better leadership than at MBC. There is a definite focus on the wellbeing of employees, and I have never felt so valued and appreciated by the leadership. I leave MBC a much better man than when I came because of this. If you want to grow in your faith, if have a humble servant heart, if you are ready to pour into young lives and want to serve God in production technology, come to the highly energetic and rewarding MBC AVL department and serve God with your technical skills.
