Through the Widjiitiwin program, MBC partners with community leaders who are engaged with young people in communities where youth are experiencing socio-economic barriers that may prevent them from being able to attend traditional summer camp. Our partners bring these youth that they are in relationship with year-round to Muskoka for a week at Camp Widjiitiwin, where they enjoy an amazing week of summer camp.

Guelph

Guelph’s Church of the City has been partnering with Widjiitiwin and local neighbourhood groups in their city for several years to bring youth from marginalized families to camp each summer. We’re excited to partner with them again this summer!

Hamilton

Widjiitiwin partners with James North Church in Hamilton to bring youth from their surrounding neighbourhood to camp. Under the leadership of Derek Hisson, the church’s youth program reaches out to nearby schools through a drop in program as well as other community partnerships. Many of these kids wouldn’t otherwise have opportunity to come to camp, and we’re excited about welcoming them this summer!

Malvern

In 2010, under the direction of Mike Greenfield, Camp Widjiitiwin launched its first partnership week with Toronto Police Officer Mark Gray in Malvern. Since that first year, these partnership weeks have grown, and the impact has been incredible in these communities.

With the relaunch of the Widjiitiwin program we are excited to include community leader Kesavan Balasingham, Pastor of Rouge Park Church as part of this partnership. Together, Constable Mark and Pastor Kesavan will be bringing deserving youth to camp this summer from the Malvern community.
