Meeting our NEW Assistant Program Director for Widjiitiwin

January 9, 2024

My name is Julia Hisey and I have had the pleasure to have grown up spending my summers at MBC, and then to transition into living nearby and working here. The various ministry opportunities MBC offers are valuable to anyone looking to serve God and others as they work.

In the year-round, I have had the opportunity to serve in the Dining Room and on the housekeeping team. Working in hospitality has helped me to more deeply understand God’s humility and gentleness in His ministry of loving and serving those around Him.

In my summers, I have had the privilege of working in our Widjiitiwin Program. In my experiences with housekeeping, cabin leading, the SALT program, general camp programming and in a section head role, I have grown in my faith and leadership skills. The staff programming allowed me to feel equipped in my roles, and build a community where I felt cared for and supported. The Immerse program provides opportunities to meet the other summer staff and engage in both fun activities and deeply thoughtful Bible studies. Being on the Student Leadership Team last summer allowed me to learn from and be mentored by full-time staff members. I also had the opportunity to use my skills and knowledge to support younger summer staff. Immerse is beneficial at any age, as you can grow in leadership each year you return. The development you experience as you work and serve is difficult to replicate in another atmosphere outside of a summer camp or conference. If you are looking for a job where you can build your relationship with Jesus while serving, MBC is a great place to do just that!
