What is Giving Tuesday?
GivingTuesday – the world’s largest generosity movement
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it’s a time when charities, companies and individuals join together and rally for favourite causes. In the same way that retailers take part in Black Friday, the giving community comes together for GivingTuesday.

This year we will focus our GivingTuesday project on reaching the next generation for Christ!
Today’s society has created a particularly difficult environment for young people to develop resilient biblical faith. There is a well-documented trend of ‘churched’ youth leaving the faith of their upbringing. It is also increasingly challenging to engage non-churched youth in meaningful faith conversations.
In a recent research-based book, Faith for Exiles, the authors make this significant claim: “Young non-Christians are avoiding Christianity, and young Christians are abandoning church; however, by cultivating five practices, we can form and be formed into disciples of Jesus who thrive as exiles in digital Babylon.” (David Kinnaman, 2019)
There is an urgency in reaching this generation with a clear biblically rooted gospel and forming youth to become resilient disciples of Jesus Christ.
Immerse, our student staffing program is strategically designed to grow resilient disciples of Jesus Christ of more than 120 youth each year.
Our Widjiitiwin program also reaches into 7 marginalized inner-city communities, working with strategic church partners to reach another 300 or more youth with the gospel through a camp experience.
And our SALT Program provides an in-depth leadership and discipleship opportunity for youth ages 14 – 16 years old.
The funds for this year’s GivingTuesday project will help support these efforts in reaching the youth generation for Christ.
Our goal is to raise $125,000 by December 3rd, 2024.
$75,000 of this will be used to support the leadership and curriculum expenses associated with the above-mentioned programs.
$50,000 will go toward a $150,000 building project at Widjiitiwin that will consist of a learning studio for our SALT participants and youth staff. This facility will be used for bible studies, leadership training and community building activities.
