Women’s Getaway | Fall 2025

October 3-5, 2025

Sometimes as women we might feel depleted and in need of some encouragement, even a few moments to just catch our breath while we are ministered to through music. Our equipped weekend is designed to help women take that time. Friday night we start our evening with a concert of praise, Saturday morning and early afternoon is filled with breakout sessions, reflective of our theme for the weekend, sessions that will encourage us and challenge us. Saturday evening and Sunday morning our plenary teacher will open God’s word and help us dig into His word. Returning home equipped to live out your own faith vibrantly is our prayer.

Retreat Description

When a friend or family member is struggling spiritually, do you ever feel uncertain about what to say and how to say it? You may sense your loved one needs to hear biblical encouragement or advice, but you may also feel inadequate for the task. Not knowing how to respond, you might simply commiserate or say nothing at all. Many Christian women find themselves in similar situations, but God calls all of us to something more!

At our Women’s Getaway weekend, Cheryl Marshall, co-author of When Words Matter Most (Crossway), encourages and equips women to speak truth with grace to those they love. Through carefully selected Scripture passages and real-life examples, Cheryl provides biblical motivation and instruction for what to say—and how to say it—to those who are worried, weary, wayward, or weeping. Women will learn how to speak truth in love within their spheres of influence and strengthen the body of Christ as a whole.

The topics covered in our Women’s Getaway weekend include:

  • Understanding God’s call to speak truth in love
  • Discerning and responding to common spiritual needs of others
  • Embracing Scripture’s key attributes and its power to transform lives
  • Speaking with grace as an overflow of the grace we’ve received in Christ
  • Overcoming common fears to speak truth in love by finding our confidence in God alone

The four Scripture-focused and Gospel-based sessions (and two optional small-group discussions) will be interactive, inspiring, and even life-changing as we explore God’s word together.

Merissa Gleason

Read about Merissa Gleason

Merissa was born and raised in Windsor-Essex County and has been leading worship at her church since she was 16 years old.

In 2018, at the age of 28 she was diagnosed with breast cancer – a difficult, but life-changing journey that has deepened her faith and given her the courage to pursue her dreams of releasing her own music.

Now living cancer-free, she has written and released a few heartfelt songs about her experience, using music to help share her story and encourage others.

Through her passion for music and love for Jesus, she is thrilled to be leading worship this weekend and hopes it leaves you feeling refreshed and spiritually “fueled-up”!

“In the week leading up to the MBC women’s retreat, I encountered several challenges which were both mentally and emotionally draining. As I packed my bags on late Friday afternoon, I realized that God had already known that I needed an unhurried period of rest, fellowship and bible teaching in the upcoming weekend. Earlier this year, God sent a friend to invite me to attend the retreat with her. The retreat’s message on forgiveness introduced new perspectives that I had not considered before. Again, with the previous week’s events and upcoming decisions still weighing heavily on my heart, I realized that God already knew what I needed to hear, as He orchestrated the retreat including speaker and message. Although my husband was supportive of me attending the retreat, it was not easy for me to let go and walk away from my responsibilities for the weekend. As I pondered upon the new lessons that God was teaching me during the retreat, I felt uplifted and encouraged that God could help me to head home to be a better wife, mother, employee and friend. All praise to our all-knowing and loving Father.”

The Prayer Room is Open!

At Muskoka Bible Centre, the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation invites reflection, renewal, and a deeper connection with Him. Free from the noise and busyness of daily life, we have the space to listen, seek, and draw near to the Lord.

Prayer is woven into the very fabric of MBC. Many of our retreats feature a Prayer Room—a peaceful, welcoming sanctuary where you can commune with God and rest in His presence. Whether you seek solitude, a moment of shared prayer with a friend, or the compassionate support of our trained Biblical Care staff, the Prayer Room is a space designed for you to encounter God.

Faith begins with a single prayer—an earnest cry for God’s saving grace. As we journey with Him, prayer remains vital, sustaining and strengthening our walk. Here, you can lay down your burdens, refresh your spirit, and pour out your heart to the One who knows and loves you completely.

"Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you."
— 1 Peter 5:7
