Teaching Topic
Abiding in Jesus
Abiding in the True Vine – John 15: 1-15
The dictionary defines abiding as to accept or act in accordance with a rule, decision, or recommendation. Synonyms include: obey, observe, follow, uphold, heed, and accept. This definition isn’t far off from what Jesus is telling us to do in John 15. We will explore the biblical text for abiding in Christ and how our abiding can display our love for God through our trust, prayer, and devotion to him. We abide through relationship. We pursue in love. We pray in love. We obey in love.
Abiding Leads to Loving – John 15:1-11
If we abide in Jesus, we are called to love our neighbour—it is proof of our abiding. John emphasizes love because it shines a light on the one who has enabled it—Jesus. If we hate our brother and sister, we do not know God. Because of Jesus, we can learn to love as He has commanded.
Abiding Leads to Grace-filled Obedience – 1 John 2:1-6
Obedience is often reduced to legalism. But faithful obedience is not legalism, it’s love. A part of abiding and worship is devotion to Jesus. We will look at our obedience in light of abiding in Christ.

The Prayer Room is Open!
At Muskoka Bible Centre, the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation invites reflection, renewal, and a deeper connection with Him. Free from the noise and busyness of daily life, we have the space to listen, seek, and draw near to the Lord.
Prayer is woven into the very fabric of MBC. Many of our retreats feature a Prayer Room—a peaceful, welcoming sanctuary where you can commune with God and rest in His presence. Whether you seek solitude, a moment of shared prayer with a friend, or the compassionate support of our trained Biblical Care staff, the Prayer Room is a space designed for you to encounter God.
Faith begins with a single prayer—an earnest cry for God’s saving grace. As we journey with Him, prayer remains vital, sustaining and strengthening our walk. Here, you can lay down your burdens, refresh your spirit, and pour out your heart to the One who knows and loves you completely.
"Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you."
— 1 Peter 5:7
